The Team at JDM's

Over the next few months we’ll be doing quick interviews with our staff for the Stockport Grand Prix and posting them on here.

Kicking things off is John, the company director.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: I started it in 1980 (34 years ago)

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A: Feeling the difference in a vehicle after a well done job.

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Check your engine oil level regularly. Never leave it until the warning light comes on because by that time its too late!

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: They welcome everyone.

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: By sneaking back when nobody is there and practicing!

 

Dean is one of our technicians and has been with us since leaving school. He attended Stockport College during his apprenticeship and reached level 3 NVQ.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 4 years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A: Learning new things & doing new things

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Learn to do the basic checks i.e. oil levels, coolant, tyre pressures. It could save you a fortune.

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: Helping children

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: Determination!

 

Matt’s our foreman. He oversees jobs in the workshop and is our on-site Mercedes-Benz specialist.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 11 years this time but 16 years in total

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A: There’s a new challenge every day

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Always check oil, water and tyre pressures on a regular basis

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: They help to give young people the best chance

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: Pure skill!

 

Bev works in the office and reception in admin. She’s also a PA to John.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 6 years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A:  Every day is different

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Make sure you get your car serviced

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: Helping young adults and children, and allowing parents to take time out as well.

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: It’s not about the winning, it’s the taking part that matters. But I’m hoping I can use my girlie side to get sympathy!

 

Steve’s been with us since being an apprentice and is one of our MOT testers & technicians.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 8 years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A: Getting my hands dirty and doing diagnostic work.

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A:  Keep your car regularly serviced and maintained.

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: Having a daughter with a genetic disorder and seeing other kids at Manchester Royal Hospital with disabilities, I find any charity that helps kids where they need it a great cause.

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: By being faster than the rest.

 

 

Josh is our newest member of staff. He’s training as an apprentice mechanic at the moment.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 9 months

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A:  Learning new things about cars

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Learn basic car skills such as checking tyre pressures and fluid levels

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: Helping children with disabilities

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: Keep my finger on the trigger

 

Anthony’s our manager. He started with is as an apprentice 24 years ago and has worked his way up.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 24 years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A:  Due to being mainly customer facing it would be customer satisfaction.

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Regular simple checks on tyres, oil and coolant levels can help prevent breakdowns and costly repairs.

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A:  It allows children with disabilities, and their families, to enjoy some fun and relaxed time together. Meeting other people going through similar situations.

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: If I win it’ll probably be by cheating!

 

Brittany’s the person behind all of our social media, advertising and promotion

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: Part time for 5 years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A: Connecting with customers via our twitter and facebook and learning all about the business.

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: Check your tyres regularly

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: Providing a space for young people and their families to have fun.

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: Beginners luck!

 

Kevin works on reception and parts, dealing with customer and suppliers.

A:  Dealing with customers

A: Where to put your oil and water

A: It gives all kids a chance to join in

A: If nobody else turns up!

 

Ian’s a senior technician, he enjoys engine re-builds and the meatier jobs.

Q: How long have you been working at John Delany Motors?
A: 13 ¾ years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A:  Rebuilding engines

Q: What’s the best bit of car advice that you think everyone should know?
A: If it aint broke don’t fix it!

Q: What’s the best thing about Jump Space?
A: Their open attitude welcoming everybody to enjoy themselves

Q: How will you win the Stockport Grand Prix?
A: By the use of a cunning plan, so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox… or cheat!

 

 

Nigel’s our full time MOT tester. He’s happy testing vehicles all day and has the eyes of a hawk!

A:  Doing a good job

A: Learn basic mechanical skills.

A: With ease and because I’m a man and I like toys!

 

Stuart does our maintenance, delivery driving and he’s our general handyman too.

A: 2 years

Q: What’s the favourite part about your job?
A: Ensuring the work place is clean and tidy for the guys to work safely.

A: Learn the basic skills of car maintenance.

A: Helping young peple with disabilites to learn and grow as individuals and as a team.

Mary’s our secretary and receptionist and also deals with the accounts, wages and much much more!
