As touched on in our previous article, each car is unique in many ways, especially when it comes to knowing how to best maintain it. Mercedes-Benz models, in particular, need lots of care and maintenance to ensure their peak, optimum performance in this artice we share with you our Mercedes-Benz maintenance tips.

Mercedes-Benz are incredibly prestigious vehicles, which can incur expenses, due to their high-quality parts, maintenance and servicing costs, innovation in safety, insightful technology and luxury interiors.

We’re often asked if Mercedes-Benz vehicles are expensive to maintain and uphold. Compared to other manufacturers, they could be seen as being high. A 2023 study showed the brand came in second place, in terms of their maintenance costs.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles benefit from specific servicing and inspections and specialised parts. Playing your part as a responsible owner and undertaking regular maintenance will go a long way to minimise most additional costs. Plus, a regular, healthy service and maintenance history enhances the value of the car when it comes to selling.

JDM’s maintenance top tips

We’ve compiled our many years of experience and knowledge of working with Mercedes-Benz vehicles into our top four tips for ultimate maintenance.

Prioritise a healthy battery!

Maintaining a healthy battery charge for your overall battery life is essential for any vehicle, but definitely for your Mercedes-Benz. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) especially within the 2020 and 2021 models, various vehicle owner complaints were logged in relation to battery-specific issues. Keeping your car running smoothly can be aided by taking the vehicle out for regular trips, and maintaining a good battery connection.

Your Mercedes battery is checked on every vehicle service we perform. Often the battery is difficult to access yourself and requires removal of other engine components, it also contains dangerous chemicals so should only be serviced by a Mercedes-Benz-approved technician.  We are happy to check your vehicles battery health at any time, free of charge, should you be experiencing issues.

Brake care

Depending on your driving habits and the amount of regular maintenance checks, your Mercedes-Benz brakes should last you between 30,000 and 70,000 miles.

Ensuring your car takes regular journeys, of both short and longer distances, really helps to maintain your brakes and ensure everything is working as it should.

Tyre checks – including tyre pressure.

Depending on the amount you use your Mercedes-Benz, if there are extended periods of it sitting dormant, your tyre’s pressure can subtly decrease without you noticing. Under-inflated tyres cause three times as many accidents as their counterparts.

Always check the alignment of your wheels to avoid encountering uneven tread in the tyres.

Keep it clean and tidy.

Both your vehicle’s interior and exterior should be regularly maintained and deep cleaned in order to maintain a good year-round condition. Washing your car will enable the exterior to remain less affected by driving conditions, which can affect wear and tear of the paintwork.

Invest in a good wax, to avoid potential damage from occurring, such as corrosion from harsh weather conditions and external everyday factors such as tree sap.

Keeping the inside of your vehicle just as clean will ensure easily spreadable germs are stopped (especially for multiple passengers) and upkeeping your luxurious upholstery will maintain its quality and lifespan.
